This signal can be seen outside the Inn. It served the same purpose as today's more modern signals, warning automobiles of incoming trains on the Milwaukee Road Main Line, Coast Division.

Nestled in the Cascade Mountain foothills of Central Washington, Iron Horse Inn was originally constructed in 1909 by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad and served until 1974 as temporary housing for men who had the job of getting trains over some of the most hazardous tracks in the country. Now featuring an extensive collection of historic photographs, artifacts, and railroad memorabilia, the lovingly renovated Inn has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
